The Lancaster Ice Rink is one of the few not-for-profit ice skating facilities in Pennsylvania that is owned and operated by a youth hockey organization. The Lancaster County Youth Amateur Hockey League (LCYAHL) has been in existence since 1971. Our organization began skating at the ice rink in the Park City Mall. After the Park City Rink closed, we had to find ice time in Hershey and Mechanicsburg. At that time, we had only 80 players in our organization. In 1984, the Franklin & Marshall College Ice Rink opened, and our organization began to grow. During the years at Franklin & Marshall Rink on Harrisburg Pike, we saw the development of programs such as public skating, youth hockey, free clinics, college and men's league hockey and figure skating. Then, in 1994, our dream of having our own rink became a reality. The LCYAHL had saved enough money from years of fundraising to build our own ice rink in the Granite Run Corporate Center . Hundreds of volunteers helped build the Lancaster Ice Rink. Now, the LCYAHL has over 750 youth participants (25 youth hockey teams, our own figure skating club, learn to skate clinics, learn to play hockey clinics). The Lancaster Ice Rink is also pleased to host the many high school teams that play in the CPIHL . Annually, we have approximately 250,000 skaters and spectators walk through the doors at the Lancaster Ice Rink.

The Loose Caboose Campground is a 26-acre campground located in the heart of Pennsylvania Amish Country in beautiful Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. It is a second generation family-owned campground proudly serving the needs of Overnight, Weekly and Seasonal campers for over 25 years. The campground is well-known for its large, secluded wooded sites, yet has the distinction of being located just minutes away from many popular tourist destinations (See “Nearby Attractions”) and special area events (i.e. Day out with Thomas the Tank Engine, Annual Rough and Tumble Thresherman’s Reunion, Bird-in-Hand Community Days, etc). In 1916 young Hacker began a search for treasure and artifacts in the Lancaster area. One rumor was that there were stashes of gold and jewels buried east of the Conestoga. Hacker’s research revealed that Lancaster was the capital of the new United States for one day in September 1777, before the Continental Congress escaped over the Susquehanna to safety. When the British invaded Philadelphia in 1777 the “Signers” fled west. Fearing capture or loss crossing The Conestoga River, one “Signer” lagged behind and buried his very heavy load near a purple leaved tree. Follow Professor Hacker on his expeditions and see if you can find the treasure supposedly hidden near a tree with purple leaves.
