Sickman's Mill is an authentic, 19th century flour and grist roller mill in working order. The structure is 4 1/2 stories high with sturdy, 30-inch stone walls. The power to operate its wooden-geared machinery comes entirely from the water that runs below it.

Landis Valley Museum, a living history village and farm, collects, preserves and interprets the history and material culture of the Pennsylvania German rural community from 1740 to 1940 and enhances understanding of their successful practices, interactions with others, and the impact on the state and nation for citizens of and visitors to the Commonwealth. Landis Valley Museum's richly layered story is the history of an early Pennsylvania German settlement, an unusual farm family, and the ongoing creation and exploration of a wonderfully diverse collection of artifacts. When brothers Henry Kinzer Landis (1865-1955) and George Diller Landis (1867 - 1954) opened the museum in 1925 at their Landis Valley residence, the area had been a small Pennsylvania German settlement since the mid 1800s. Expanded to its current size, we now invite visitors to experience 18th and 19th century village and farm life in Lancaster County, Pa, all in one visit. With over 100 acres and many historic buildings to explore throughout the four seasons, there's always something to see at Landis Valley Museum, a great museum in Lancaster County.

Perhaps SummitPost.org says it best: "Chickies Rock is merely a hill if you look at it by the map. Yes, it looks a little steep, but nothing like what you see when you stand at the base and look up the 220 foot vertical wall. Impressive........yes, definitely, especially for Pennsylvania. Chickies Rock is without a doubt the premier natural rock climbing location in the state. You can go there any day of the year and there will be at any one time at least 5-10 climbers heading up the steep precipice ... It has history, history, and even more history. It is now part of the Chickies Rock County Park which contains more than 422 acres of preservation land. Much of this land along the river was part of the old Pennsylvania Canal. Prior to that it was one of the largest Indian villages discovered in Lancaster County. Even more than that, it ran lines for the PA Railroad and still is active in shipping by rail. Geologically speaking Chickies Rock is something special to many people on the east coast. It is the largest exposed Anticline on the east coast. This geological feature is very easy to pick out as the rock arches up on the north and south sides of the outcropping. The center of the anticline is located right around the northwest corner of the outcropping and it forms a mini-cave." Simply put, Chickies Rock is breathtaking, and is worth a visit on your next trip to Lancaster County.

Once upon a time in a tiny village called Falmouth, there were several old timers sitting around the Village Store discussing life's misfortunes. Seeing as they all had goats as family pets, prompted Glenn to remark that they might as well bet on goats. Well, that was all it took for Ken, the practical joker of the group, to get an idea! The next day, Ken placed an ad in the local newspaper, advertising a Goat Race in Falmouth and giving his friend Glenn's phone number. Now as the "good ol' boys" got together that night, they decided the only way to save face was to hold a goat race. And it was such a huge success that they have done it every year from that day up to the present.

Wright's Ferry Mansion is a historic home located in Columbia, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. It was built in 1738, and is a 2 1/2-story, rectangular limestone dwelling with a gable roof and pent eave. It was built for Susanna Wright, an English Quakeress, and its architecture reflects a mix of English and Germanic elements.

The house was restored to appear as in 1750 and is open to the public several days a week from May through October.

Visit Kauffman's Hardware in New Holland Especially at Christmas Time.

From that year until December 2006, Parkes donned the Santa suit to delight children at the New Holland store every Saturday between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

After the store closed in 2007, he became the New Holland Radio Shack Santa, before returning to former Kauffman's building this year.

"Santa has been part of the Kauffman building history for decades, and with the museum opening this year, we wanted him to return," said Steve Loewen, president of the New Holland Area Historical Society.
