Organist Larry Hershey returns to the console of the Hill Byrne Christiansen Memorial Organ for a free 30 minute concert at 8 PM on First Friday, October 4, featuring a program entitled “Graveyard Gems” at First Reformed Church, 40 E. Orange Street, in downtown Lancaster. The program includes Johann Sebastian Bach’s most famous work, “Toccata in D Minor”, “Funeral March for a Marionette” by Charles Gounod (popularized as the theme for Alfred Hitchcock’s suspense thriller TV show), and “Twilight” by Carol Williams, and concludes with Leon Boellmann’s “Toccata from Suite Gothique”.

The First Friday “Organic Reflections” concert series is a gift to the community from First Reformed Church, a center city congregation of the United Church of Christ. Only 30 minutes in length, the free concerts begin at 8 PM each First Friday for the convenience of those who wish to spend the early evening visiting downtown galleries before the concert. New School Montessori, located at 935 Columbia Avenue, will provide an opportunity to learn more about this innovative educational method at a community Open House on Wednesday, October 9th.

The public is invited to tour our four-story school, housed in the former Hamilton Watch Company Headquarters, and meet with school administrators and Montessori-trained teachers of the infant, toddler, primary, elementary, and middle school levels.

The Head of School, Robyn Stearne, will give a brief orientation followed by question and answer sessions. Participants will also have the opportunity to observe a program of their choice.
