December Masterworks – Messiah (December 2-3, 2022)

Handel’s legendary oratorio hails the season of peace and goodwill. The Lancaster Symphony Chorus and sensational soloists join the LSO in this festive favorite!

A concert of Advent and Christmas classics for organ and brass will be presented on December 2, 2022 at 8 PM at First Reformed Church, 40 East Orange Street, Lancaster. Organist Larry Hershey will be at the console of the mighty 1958 analog Allen organ, along with Kristen Albert playing French horn, and Doug Albert on the trumpet. The concert will begin with Mr. Hershey playing "March on Handel's 'Lift up your Heads'" by Alexandre Guilmant, and Denis Bedard's "Variations on 'In dulci jubilo'". Kristen and Doug Albert will join Larry for the Latin Antiphon "O Come, O Come, Emmanuel" and Franz Schubert's popular "Ave Maria". The program will conclude with the French Carol "Gloria in Excelsis Deo", arranged for Piccolo Trumpet and Organ by Maurice Andre and Jane Parker Smith.

This series of free 30 minute concerts is a gift to the community from First Reformed Church, a center city congregation of the United Church of Christ.
